Next fall will be my first year of teaching general education. I am so anxious to start preparing my room for my first group of fourth graders! As a kid, I loved school. Now, looking back at my 18 years of schooling, I realize that my school experience was so great due to all of my wonderful teachers. I want to be able to re-create that kind of environment for my students. Students should feel safe, happy, and comfortable in their classroom as they are there more often than they are at home! I want to push my kiddos to be the best they can be while having fun and learning at the same time.
My class will consist of 20 amazing kiddos.
In order to support these students in the best way possible, I need many different classroom materials. First-year teachers have to start from scratch and buy SO much for their classroom. I am looking to get flexible seating options, a classroom rug, and some organizational tools to help my classroom become an environment that students feel safe and welcomed into.
I am so excited to support students socially, emotionally, and academically in these upcoming years!
My Project
I want all of my students to feel safe and comfortable in my classroom. For some kiddos, school is the only place in their life where they can feel safe and loved. Students can't learn if they don't feel safe and comfortable in their classroom environment. In order to provide my students with the best learning environment possible, I need some materials that will help every student feel more "at home".
The rug will be used to create a classroom community.
Each day, students will sit here for morning meetings, lessons, and read-alouds. Exercise balls will be used for flexible seating in my classroom. Some students move constantly during the day. Exercise balls allow students to sit down, work, and be successful, while still being able to get out their wiggles.
