Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My building is a PreK-Eighth grade Title 1 school, and in every grade we develop a strong classroom community to support one another. My students all come from lower income families that struggle each day to make ends meet. My bilingual fifth grade classroom is composed of preteens from Spanish-speaking countries. Many have come to us from countries in civil unrest, frightened, lacking resources and in many cases traumatized. Our students work to assimilate to the new culture around them while maintaining pride in their heritage and cultural diversity.

My Project

My fifth graders love to move!

This project will provide students with flexible, mobile seating and STEM resources to keep them active and moving in the classroom during the cold winter months and beyond.

I’ve included 5 wobble chairs, poly spots that we can use for a variety of active stations in the classroom, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) books and a project kid to give them more opportunities for hands on learning throughout the classroom!

I’ve chosen easy to clean materials to keep us healthy and safe from germs!
