Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an inner-city, community school in Hartford, CT where one hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch due to our school being in a low-income area. In addition, our school is made up of diverse children with backgrounds where English is not their primary language. With this being said, many of the students in my class are visual learners.

As Albert Einstein said, "The only source of knowledge is experience." Learning needs to be an active process.

As a result, my students want to be involved in the learning process as active learners. It is my goal to help my students not only reach the next reading level but to keep my students motivated to learn.

My Project

Our school only goes to 5th grade. As a result, at the end of the year, we hold a 5th Grade Promotion for all of our 5th graders. However, due to the the unknown and safety protocols, we are preparing in advance to make our 5th Grade Promotion a success regardless of where we celebrate our students. The promotion certificates and certificate holders will be given to each student as they walk across the stage in person or virtually to be recognized.

This promotion ceremony may not change the world, but it is definitely important to our 5th graders. This will be a memorable event for not only the 5th graders but their families as well. This is a family event to recognize the academic success of our 5th graders.
