Many of them immediately picked up the crayons to start drawing, while others tested the dry‑erasers with excitement. One student said, \"This feels like a brand‑new classroom!\" Their joy and curiosity were a direct result of your kindness.\r\nWe are already using the supplies in meaningful ways. The pencils and crayons are helping us begin a mini‑book project where students write and illustrate stories about topics they care about. The homework folders have helped bring better organization and responsibility to our nightly reading practice. And the prizes have been a huge motivator as students work hard to meet their weekly goals.\r\nA special moment happened this week during a writing lesson: one student held up her freshly illustrated page and said, \"I'm proud of this. It looks real.\" That pride is exactly what your donation supports.\r\nAs we move forward, the next steps for our class include expanding our writing unit into a full published class book. Because I share my classroom with another teacher, my K–2 students often work on the rug during literacy instruction. Before the lap desks arrived, writing on the carpet was uncomfortable and distracting. Now, each student has a stable surface, and I immediately saw more focus and independence. One moment that stood out was during a phonics activity; instead of shifting around to find support for their papers, students stayed engaged and completed their work confidently on their new desks.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the lap desks, they were excited and proud to have their own workspace. They carefully placed their Fundation Readers Dictation booklet / Phonics Dictation Practice booklet on top and tested them out right away. Something as simple as having a personal writing surface made them feel more prepared and \"official\" during small-group time.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using the lap desks daily during reading, writing, and word-building activities on the rug. They will also support partner work and small projects, allowing students to stay in their learning space without disruption. I gave the bags to students on the last week before winter break as a Christmas gift and surprise for them. They were absolutely ecstatic about them and could not wait to get home to enjoy it.\r\n\r\nIn order to make this time of the year special for these children, we had the opportunity to build gingerbread houses in the classroom using milk cartons and candies. In our classroom, this computer has quickly become a valuable tool for research, writing, and interactive lessons. The excitement and confidence it has sparked are evident every day.\r\nA few students have connected especially strongly with the new technology. With flexibility and students' learning in mind, I created a rotation where all students have the opportunity to use the tablet during independent work time every day. Most of the times, students are using the tablet to read books from our virtual library in Epic. Currently, students have been reading and learning about Galileo Galilei and his discoveries. After that, students will explore the moon through fiction and nonfiction books. These books are assigned by me and go direct to their Epic account. \r\n\r\nThe tablet has also been used during small group instruction as an extra visual support for students who read below grade level. We have been working super hard to catch up on these students' reading skills.
