The students gathered around to peek inside one of the story bags, and their faces lit up as they discovered each item. They immediately began wondering if the elf would bring a bag for each of them, and the sense of hope and magic was beautiful to see. Even though they haven't used any of the items yet, just exploring one bag together created so much anticipation.\r\n\r\nThe real fun will begin on December 1st. That's when our holiday activities will start. Only one bag, with the bear, notepads, coloring pencils, and stickers, will be going home this month, traveling from student to student so each child can share the bear's \"adventures\" the next day and decide what name they would give him if he ever became theirs. Their own personal bags, with all the gifts, will be given on December 22nd, right before winter break, as a special Christmas surprise from Santa, from me, and from the kind people who \"bought the supplies.\"\r\n\r\nYour generosity has turned the days leading up to the holidays into a magical learning experience. With flexibility and students' learning in mind, I created a rotation where all students have the opportunity to use the tablet during independent work time every day. Most of the times, students are using the tablet to read books from our virtual library in Epic. Currently, students have been reading and learning about Galileo Galilei and his discoveries. After that, students will explore the moon through fiction and nonfiction books. These books are assigned by me and go direct to their Epic account. \r\n\r\nThe tablet has also been used during small group instruction as an extra visual support for students who read below grade level. We have been working super hard to catch up on these students' reading skills. The tablet has been a huge help and students feel special to have this kind of technology during our guided reading groups. \r\n\r\nYour generous donation of a tablet will go a long way to provide students from disadvantaged backgrounds with resources that will support and scaffold their literacy skills. These tools are more than just classroom supplies—they are powerful instruments for learning and growth.\r\n\r\nThrough playdough, children strengthen the small muscles in their hands and fingers, which are essential for writing, cutting, and other fine motor skills. It also sparks creativity, encourages sensory exploration, and helps children express their ideas in a hands-on, tangible way.\r\n\r\nUsing markers allows children to experiment with color, shape, and form. Drawing and coloring help develop hand-eye coordination, encourage focus, and provide a joyful way for children to communicate thoughts and emotions before they have full command of written language.\r\n\r\nPrints and visuals—such as pictures, charts, and illustrated stories—support children's understanding of the world around them. Visual aids make abstract ideas concrete, help with language development, and create connections between what children see, say, and do.
