Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year 5th grade teacher, I am working to build a classroom environment where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to learn each day. One of the most effective ways to encourage positive behavior and strong work habits is through consistent recognition and meaningful incentives.

Many students thrive when their efforts are acknowledged.

A classroom treasure box provides a simple but powerful way to celebrate positive choices such as staying on task, showing respect, participating in discussions, and demonstrating perseverance during challenging work. These small moments of recognition can have a big impact on student confidence and engagement.

This project will provide a variety of age-appropriate rewards such as small prizes, fidget tools, school supplies, and fun items that students can earn through positive behavior and academic effort. These incentives will be used as part of a structured classroom management system that reinforces responsibility, goal-setting, and a growth mindset.

In a 5th grade classroom, students are developing independence and preparing for the expectations of middle school. By using positive reinforcement, I can help students build strong habits, take pride in their progress, and stay motivated throughout the school year. By supporting this project, you are helping create a classroom culture where students feel recognized, encouraged, and excited to do their best every day.
