Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am in my third year of teaching third grade in Texas. I am new to teaching reading in a 2 way rotation. We have a range of students from low income to average income, the majority receiving free and reduced lunch. We have a strong set of teachers supporting our students and have a number of students with disabilities and specialized learning needs. I love building classroom community and place great value on the importance of building friendships and developing relationships. They are passionate about learning various ways to express their feelings! I see about 40 unique and creative students daily who are learning ways to act and engage with each other. We have a perfect blend of students with varying needs. Each of their special personalities makes our classroom the amazing learning environment that it is! We enjoy working together and supporting each other as we learn and grow everyday!
My Project
When you're 8 years old, mornings can be tough! In my classroom, I want to ignite creativity first thing and get students brains working right off the bat. I know this will be a great motivator to get students up and eager to come to school each morning.
Students will use these materials to work together to get their brain juices flowing from their first steps in my door.
Students will have the opportunity to choose what activity they want to participate in each morning. They will also have the opportunity to build relationships and work together at all of these morning rotations.
What would you choose? Free art? Team building block? Magnetic building? Board games? With these supplies, our possibilities are endless! We want to make mornings fun!
