More Than Books: Creating a Welcoming Library

Help me give my students a library space that feels welcoming, comfortable, and exciting. A place where they can gather for stories on their new reading carpet , explore STEM activities and know they are welcome.

My Project

My goal is to create a welcoming, organized, and engaging library environment where every student feels excited to visit, read, learn, and create.

This project will provide several much-needed supplies to help make our school library a place where students feel comfortable and connected.

A new reading carpet will create a cozy gathering space for read-alouds, library lessons, and independent reading. Lanyards will be used for library passes, helping students travel to and from the library safely and independently during open access times.

STEM bins will give students opportunities to explore, build, problem-solve, and collaborate through hands-on activities. These materials will allow our library to support not only literacy, but also creativity, critical thinking, and STEM learning.

I would also like to provide envelopes that families can use during our back-to-school activities to write special letters to their children. These letters will be kept and shared with students as a meaningful welcome-back surprise, reminding them that their families are cheering them on as they begin a new school year.

Together, these supplies will help transform our library into an inviting space where students can read, create, explore, and feel supported. Your contribution will help our students start the school year knowing that their library is a place created especially for them.
