My Project

Each day my fifth-grade students enter our classroom excited to be at school and eager to work and learn. While my students actively participate in math, reading, and science, our schedule does provide some challenges. We have the last lunch period, which means that students don't go to the cafeteria until 1:10. Many of them struggle to stay energized through the morning. While I allow students to bring snacks from home, only a handful of students are able to bring something in. This project will ensure that all of my students can have something to eat.

Being able to provide healthy snacks for my students will allow them to have the energy they need to stay focused and work through our long morning.

Earlier in the school year, I had another Super Snacks project funded and I asked my students how they felt about having snacks available. I think some of their responses best demonstrate why having this new snack project funded is so important:

"I like being able to try new things that I have never tried before."

"I'm happy we have snacks because I always had a stomach ache before."

"I'm so glad we have snacks because now I don't have to worry whether or not I have food to bring in. It helps me so I don't have to be hungry."
