My Project

My students love exploring during independent play time, which we call "Imagination Stations". We have many materials we use daily and have a great need for shelves to store them on that the children can reach.

Learning to organize and clean up independently is a critical life skill.

My students love to help me clean up, but truly need a space that they can reach. I currently am using old AV carts so that they can reach them, but we need more. Having this shelving unit would be a great addition to our Imagination Stations, while teaching them how to clean up after themselves, and get what they need. It will also give our classroom more usable foot space since there will not be a need for random book cases any longer.

Receiving this shelving unit will also help me organize materials for newcomers to the country such as students that I have who are on a medical visa, as well as students whose families are migrant immigrants. Using the materials on the shelves help them to connect with their peers in a way that is natural, through play. Participating in the Imagination Stations has created a culture of inquiry, high interest, participation, and endless positive social skills between students. Can you help me organize it better?
