My Project

Our school library's mission is to develop readers and researchers, students who are passionate about lifelong learning. Our youngest students are so happy to listen to stories, but as they start to age, they can begin to lose that enthusiasm. It can be hard to be passionate and excited about reading when reading is very hard for you.

Enter Manga -- the hottest request item in any library right now!

All manga is high interest right now, requested nearly every day by students in our school. They've seen Naruto; they've played Zelda. Now, they want more! Our manga section has historically been small, due to a lack of developmentally appropriate options. Thankfully, that's changing! We now have options like Kirby, Mario, Disney, and so much more in manga form, ready to inspire their journey to becoming a lifelong reader.

I know we will not be able to keep these books on the shelves, as their plot and art both inspire kids (while helping them comprehend the story and build their vocabulary). Your donation will help us build a true Manga section of the library, where readers can find something new to explore. With many of these books, the shorter text and heavy illustrations also continue to increase access to story for our English language learners and students with disabilities.
