As we re-opened the library this Fall, students dove into bins, sparking ideas. Groups gather together, offering suggestions and building on what they see happening around them. And, my favorite, is watching students who struggle in traditional settings come alive in the MakerSpace. We even have students take breaks in the library specifically because they know hands-on creation helps them refocus, regulate, and re-engage with learning.\r\n\r\nThis year, our MakerSpace materials have fueled some extraordinary student projects—from designing habitats for legendary creatures to building heartfelt gifts for teachers and friends. We've crafted tools that you would find on a farm and built all kinds of dinosaurs after introducing early research to kindergarteners. All of these projects nurture problem-solving, curiosity, and creativity in every child, including English learners, students with disabilities, and reluctant readers. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping our students dream bigger and build bolder every day.","fullyFundedDate":1755745389292,"projectUrl":"project/makers-gonna-make-2025-edition/9460915/","projectTitle":"Makers Gonna Make, 2025 Edition","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vanderland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp54404_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1449023011770","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msaudra"},{"teacherId":54404,"projectId":9440234,"letterContent":"Our students and teachers have been using the pantry resources every single day, and the impact has been immediate and meaningful. Our students know that they can go to the library anytime they need to wake up their brain and fuel their learning. Teachers and interventionists regularly send students to the library for a quick bar so they can return to class focused, calm, and ready to learn. Many teachers thank us for this option, expressing how much this relieves stress for students during the day. \r\n\r\nThe importance of our food pantry became all the more relevant recently, during the November SNAP freeze. We saw a doubling of the students stopping by for a way to start the day, supplementing what they may receive through the cafeteria. The steady flow of students visiting the pantry shows just how vital this resource has become in keeping learning on track. Can I try it?!?\" We've even had new morning visitors pop in to check out the new items -- and get a book at the same time. \r\n\r\nAlong with this joy, we've also been able to deepen their learning as they make connections between their academic content and their everyday lives. In January, students across the school were studying technology, old and new. We were able to supplement that by exploring the technology that is used in different careers -- stethoscopes and x-rays by doctors, cranes and construction by engineers and construction teams, and so much more. These connections helped them better understand how technology solves problems in our everyday life -- and that technology is about more than computers.\r\n\r\nAnd, of course, this is only the beginning!
