As educators, more often than not, we are expected to provide high-quality learning opportunities in our classrooms despite having insufficient materials to do so.
As a new teacher, it is particularly difficult to provide adequate materials for students.
My scholars are brilliant and they deserve high-quality resources and materials that are similar to their higher-income peers. This gap should not determine a difference in their educational experience.
The community of learners in which I teach is vibrant, tight-knit, joyful, and eager to learn each and everyday. My students are dreamers. They dig deep into their learning, demonstrate curiosity through questioning, and display a sense of energy that is contagious. My students deserve nothing less than amazing. They are the future!
Learning in the classroom often involves technology. Technology is fun and appealing to students in many different ways. However, it can be so expensive to have and often isn't provided within schools. This means teachers are left to support these materials out of their own pockets!
Osmo learning kits are a form of instructional technology that makes learning fun for students.
This form of technology involves literacy, math, and other creative thinking skills. For example, my students can work on letter names and sounds, blending, letter recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and addition/subtraction. Osmo is hands-on and manipulative, meaning that besides just touching a screen, they can also move tiles under a sensor. Imagine how much fun we could have!
