This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My scholars come to me from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some are being raised in traditional two-parent homes while others may be in foster care. Regardless of their circumstances, they all come eager and willing to learn. Whether that be academic content or just how to interact successfully with their peers, they are here to achieve to their highest potential.

Purposeful play has become an integral part of elementary education.

It allows students to explore high interest activities while they practice the discourse needed to be successful team members. Whether it is building a huge fort, or creating a puppet show, they are able to interact with many different manipulatives that they may not have seen prior.

The doll house is probably the biggest draw of students, both boys and girls. I really feel that we need to add a bit more furniture as well as dolls that look like them and their families. We also have one construction set and would love to add more so that we can build even bigger projects.
