This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are truly beautiful and brilliant. Currently, I serve at a high-poverty, Title I school, meaning that 100% of our students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. Our school is located in a high poverty neighborhood.
My students work very hard every day.
They are very eager, inquisitive, and ready to work. They are creative, always ready to help, and I truly enjoy their energy and commitment to success. Each day is new and a lot of times they are teaching me as I teach them.
My Project
My students believe that money is the only way you can be truly happy. A lot of them look at money as their way out of their own situations, I would like my students to understand the true value of money by teaching them about financial literacy.
Learning about the history of money, as well as how to value money, will help my students become better consumers.
Currently, my students use all of their notebook paper and copy paper to make fake money. I would like to use the printer and extra ink cartridges to actually print money that we can use to help them learn about money as a project in class. We will print money from different times as well as learn about the history of currency. Eventually, I would like my students to write an informative essay about what they learn.
