Help me give my students 3 sets of Mobile Whiteboards to do all the things that will make them successful in collaborating and sharing ideas with their groups and classmates.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school where I work is considered a Title I school where we mostly serve many migrant students, students with limited English proficiency, students with disabilities, foster students, and at-risk students. All the students I work with at my school receive low-cost or free government-funded meals. Most of these students also lack the social and emotional skills that are needed to be successful later on in life. But no matter what situation these students are facing, most of them are always willing to learn and help other students.

These students face many challenges on a daily basis at home and bring them to school.

It could be that last night their siblings and they were just placed in foster homes, or while both parents were working night shifts, they had to cook and clean for the younger siblings. No matter what, these students are amazing! These special and talented students choose to still persevere and come to school every day with the best of themselves. They continue to show me their resilience and excitement to come to school every day to learn and be educated! I hope to continue to impact them in a positive and successful way!

My Project

The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. We use sheet protectors and 8x12 print paper as our whiteboards when I need students to show me their individual work. For group work, we use long woods that stand on the floor and students collaborate to show their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers on these sheet protectors and wood whiteboards do not erase well, always leaving streaks, or the long whiteboard is heavy for students to lift and move if we need to move groups around the classroom. All of these are real struggles in my class, and my students are very good about adjusting to these struggles but eventually these whiteboards that we use get dirty because the erase markers don't come off well. My students usually lose a lot of learning time by trying to find which is the best way to erase these markers if water doesn't work on them. By having the mobile whiteboards, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!

With these mobile whiteboards, it will allow my students to collaborate in groups and allow them to present their learnings to their peers and the whole class.

The mobile whiteboards are a step up for our classroom! No more heavy whiteboards and my students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their whiteboards are going to show their work or not. Plus, it will increase their desire to collaborate and learn by using these new mobile whiteboards!
