This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students in my fine arts classroom consist of Pre-K through fifth graders. They have the energy and enthusiasm to explore and create, but we lack the supplies to make their ideas come alive.

My students' community is primarily low-income, and all of them receive complimentary breakfast and lunch.

These students do not have the needed supplies or resources to succeed, especially in the fine arts. They have virtually no experience or exposure to any fine arts, whether visual, theater, or even music.

My Project

My elementary drama students have been working really hard on our first theatrical production since before the Pandemic. They are rehearsing choreography and lines in order to produce Disney's Moana Jr. in the spring. The feathers will be used to create the costumes for the royal family in the show. The wigs will be used by our Moana actresses and our crab character. I've also included shells to create necklaces for our villagers and grass skirts for everyone to wear. All of these resources will help to create an unforgettable experience for my students and our community.
