My Students

My Head Start Classroom is Federally funded, which means that my student's family income must be below the poverty level. This is a very low-income level, which is why it is extremely important to me that I make the 17 children's learning environment as fun, challenging, and educational as possible. The resources of the child's family are limited and I try to help make their Head Start experience an excellent one.

Head Start was created to give these low-income children an excellent educational experience before Kindergarten so they are better equipped and ready to learn.

My Project

This project is a mixed bag of supplies needed in my classroom. We have a listening center, but no storage unit to store the headphones or junction box. Every time the children want to use it a teacher has to set it up. The storage unit will allow the children to use the listening center themselves and pick out the story or music they want to listen to with their friends. The Alphabet mats will help the children learn their letters and help with their fine motor skills by using the mats with play dough. The storage bins will help keep us organized and assist the children in cleanup.

Having the right supplies makes learning easier and helps to make things more organized.

This project is much needed for my Head Start children and their families.
