My Project

I teach a Consumer Science class for kids needing a third science credit in high school. We do many lessons that cover food science, which the kids love-especially if they get to eat! We start with measurements, food safety, cooking practices, and even learn about proper dishwashing procedures. I have 3 small hand mixers the kids use within the class, but they are not sturdy enough for making breads, heavy batters, or icing.

A nice Kitchenaid Mixer will give my students the ability to venture into more advanced cooking practices.

After Thanksgiving the kids want to have a cookie decorating contest and it has been requested they learn to make homemade bread. Homemade hot rolls would tie nicely into their lesson when they learn to make fried chicken. I love how the students are truly embracing the material and requesting what they want out of the class.
