Mirrors and Windows: Music that Reflects and Builds Empathy

Help me give my students songs that are both mirrors and windows, and supplies to make learning ukulele easier!

My Project

I am blown away by the resiliency and intelligence of my students. Many of my students hail from other countries, and a large percentage of the student population is learning English as a second (or more) language while learning other subjects in school. Some of them see this multilingual ability as just an everyday skill, but I find it as an impressive strength.

We celebrate the diversity of our students in our school, and I want the song choices in music to do the same.

This project will provide materials to better select and more authentically teach songs from Spanish speaking cultures. It will also provide some useful tools to make learning ukulele easier for our kids. Any amount of your help would be greatly appreciated!
