Minimally Verbal Student in Need of Art Supplies

Help me give my students the necessary art supplies to support remote learning and foster creative self expression , sensory integration, and overall development.

My Students

Since the pandemic hit NYC my students with autism have been sheltering in and remote learning. One nonverbal student in particular has been very motivated to make art at home with his family. Unfortunately he has met frustration when trying to paint on notebook paper with cotton swabs and food coloring. His family is very engaged and resourceful using recycled materials and kitchen supplies but these tools are limited.

This child has demonstrated a strong interest and proficiency in art making and will greatly benefit from your donation.

My Project

As an art teacher for students with autism in a NYC public school I am charged with providing my students an art education and a proving ground for them to generalize the many skills they are learning with their therapists and classroom teacher.

Engagement in art making supports my students in developing creative self expression, attention to task, fine motor skills, sensory integration, cognitive flexibility, communication skills and so much more!!!

The pandemic had forced us to move to remote learning for the foreseeable future without adequate time to prepare. This has left many of my students, including this one, without the needed supplies to make art and learn from home.
