This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students at our high school are bright, compassionate, and resilient young people, balancing demanding academics, after-school jobs, and complex personal lives. As their Trust Counselor, I work daily with teens navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, social pressures, and post-secondary stress. Many of them lack quiet, supportive spaces to decompress, reflect, or receive meaningful guidance about their emotional well-being and future goals.

To meet this need, I am transforming an empty classroom into a Wellness, College, and Career Prep Room; a calm, inspiring space where students can receive emotional support, explore post-secondary options, and develop the confidence to plan for their futures.

In this space, students will participate in small-group counseling sessions on topics such as coping with anxiety, improving self-esteem, and building healthy relationships, as well as college and career readiness workshops focused on goal setting, scholarship applications, and resume building.

To bring this vision to life, I am requesting materials that make the space both functional and supportive. A wireless all-in-one printer will allow students to print scholarship essays, college applications, and mental health handouts during workshops and sessions. The teen mental health book bundles will provide diverse and relatable young adult stories that promote resilience, identity exploration, and self-discovery; key components for both personal growth and college readiness. “Everyday SEL in High School” will guide the development of structured activities that build emotional intelligence and practical life skills.

With your support, this room will become a central hub where students can breathe, reflect, and prepare for their next chapter, promoting both mental wellness and a strong sense of purpose that will carry them far beyond high school.
