Help me give my students materials to improve their mental health and coping skills.

My Project

My students are sixth grade diverse readers and writers. Middle school is a transformative time for students. Children experience many physical, emotional, and educational changes during middle school. It is a crucial point in their development to help prepare them for high school and set them up for success in life.

Students this age experience extreme emotions and seek social acceptance.

Many students have difficulty regulating their emotions during the day when a conflict arises.

I want to create a safe corner in my classroom where students may go to improve their mental health during a conflict. This corner of my room will provide a calming area for students to visit for a few minutes. These materials, the tactile shells and colored pencils will provide my students with ways to lower their stress levels and calm down so they can get themselves right back on track.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
