Help me give my students enough microphones for everyone in jazz choir to have their own! This is important so each voice in the group is heard and no one has to share.
Our choir is a group of dedicated, hard-working, and talented students. We go to countless competitions, festivals, and even tours. We have different choirs; concert, treble, and jazz choir. Each one unique and with its own unique students. The program has been around for a very long time with a strong foundation in music excellence.
On November 14th, 2019 our choirs experienced a terror they should of never had to, a school shooting.
We are working on rebuilding and navigating our emotions during this tragedy through music. These students dedicate their own spare time and often their own income to participate in the program, they work hard inside and outside the classroom. The choir room is still their safe space. These kids are a family and spend their lunches, breaks, and open periods in the choir room. My students have been through the unimaginable but they are still excited to make music each day and demonstrate an inspiring passion for learning.
My Project
Our choirs are hoping to get the funds for more microphones. All of our choirs use these microphones, especially jazz choir and show choir. Having enough microphones, so students don't have to share (two people singing into one microphone), is essential for great choral sound, blend, and equity of voices.
We are so overwhelmed and extremely thankful that our first project got funded so quickly.
We were given some extra gift cards and donations to start a SECOND project and we couldn't be more grateful. We are hoping to get more microphone for our classroom and performing arts center so each student can be heard and have their own mics in class and in performances.
