This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My pre-kindergarten students are curious, creative, and eager to explore the world through hands-on experiences. Outdoor play is a vital part of their day, and I want to transform our playground into an engaging space that encourages artistic expression, collaboration, and early learning through visual arts.

To support this vision, I am requesting a set of outdoor-friendly art materials that will allow students to create and explore in new ways.

Chalk flowers that can be attached to our fence will give students a vertical surface for drawing, helping to strengthen fine motor skills while inspiring imaginative designs. A fence-mounted easel will provide a structured space for painting and drawing outdoors, allowing children to freely express themselves in a larger format. Additionally, mesh fencing panels will allow students to practice weaving, an activity that builds coordination, pattern recognition, and creativity.

These materials will turn our playground into an interactive art studio where students can experiment, collaborate, and learn through play. At this early stage, children develop critical skills through sensory experiences and creative exploration. By bringing art outside, students who may not always engage in traditional indoor activities will have new opportunities to shine.

Your support will help foster creativity, independence, and confidence in my young learners. With these materials, our playground will become a space where imagination grows alongside the whole child—socially, emotionally, and academically.

Why This Matters:

Access to high-quality, hands-on materials is essential for early childhood development. Many of my students thrive when given opportunities to learn through movement and play. Outdoor art experiences provide an inclusive environment where all learners, including multilingual students and those with diverse learning needs, can participate and succeed.
