My Students

My Second graders love reading, but the excitement of having a new, high-interest book in their hands is like no other. When one of my students has a new book to read that is about a topic they love or has characters they can relate to, they light up!

My readers grow so much throughout the year and the volume of books that they read is a huge factor in this growth.

When my students have books that they love in their book boxes, they are so motivated to get reading throughout the day!

My Project

We are requesting high-interest nonfiction books which will captivate them through mesmerizing facts and text features! Reading nonfiction books hooks so many second grade readers. From the text features to the amazing facts, students are completely enthralled with nonfiction books. My goal for this project is to bring high-interest nonfiction books into our classroom.

Students will be mesmerized by these high-interest nonfiction texts.

These books teach about topics students truly enjoy learning about such as animals, space, and weather. Students love to grow their thinking about these topics that they already love so much!

Students will also use these books to become better writers! We study nonfiction texts and try out what we see in our own nonfiction writing. My students love becoming experts on new topics and these books will truly help them achieve that!
