Your donation of new books and reading response journals means more to our students and me than I can adequately express. Because of your kindness, our students now have more opportunities to discover new stories, strengthen their reading skills, express their ideas, and—most importantly—develop a genuine love of reading.\r\n\r\nThere is something special about putting a new book into the hands of a student. For some students, finding the right book can completely change the way they think about reading. A student who once said, \"I don't like to read,\" can suddenly become the student who asks for five more minutes because they have to find out what happens next. Your generosity gives us the ability to create more of those moments.\r\n\r\nThe books you provided will help us build a classroom environment where reading is not simply another assignment to complete. We want reading to be an opportunity to explore new places, meet interesting characters, learn about different experiences, ask questions, and discover topics that spark curiosity. Having a variety of engaging books available right in our classroom allows students to have choices and helps them begin discovering who they are as readers.\r\n\r\nThe reading response journals you donated are equally important. We want our students to do more than finish a book and put it back on the shelf. We want them to think about what they are reading.\r\n\r\nTogether, the books and journals create a powerful combination: Read. Think. Reflect. Grow.\r\n\r\nAs educators, we know that strong readers are built over time. It happens one chapter, one discussion, one journal entry, and one great book at a time. Your donation gives our students more opportunities to practice those skills every day.\r\n\r\nBut your contribution provides something beyond books and classroom supplies.\r\n\r\nIt tells our students that someone believes their education is worth investing in.\r\n\r\nPeople whom they may never meet took the time to support their classroom and provide them with resources that will help them learn and grow. That is an incredibly meaningful message for a young person to receive.\r\n\r\nThroughout this school year, these books will be opened hundreds of times. Pages will be turned. Characters will be debated. Predictions will be made. New vocabulary will be discovered. Students will recommend books to their friends. Journals will slowly fill with thoughts, questions, opinions, and ideas.\r\n\r\nAnd behind every one of those moments will be the generosity of people like you.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful that you chose to be part of our classroom community. Your support helps us create a classroom where students have access to quality books, where their ideas matter, and where reading can become something they choose to do rather than something they simply have to do.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us put more books into the hands of our students.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving them a place to capture their thoughts.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting literacy, curiosity, creativity, and learning.\r\n\r\nAnd most of all, thank you for believing in our students and investing in their future.\r\n\r\nWe cannot wait to see where these books take them!","fullyFundedDate":1778018446522,"projectUrl":"project/brushing-up-on-literacy-artful-reading/10220184/","projectTitle":"Brushing Up on Literacy: Artful Reading & Creative Writing","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gallo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4231433_orig.jpg?crop=1024,1024,x0,y129&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749591444322","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4231433"},{"teacherId":4231433,"projectId":9727841,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of chair pockets and reading pillows to our 5th grade classroom. Having their own space for supplies has also encouraged responsibility and independence.\r\n\r\nThe reading pillows have made a big difference during independent reading and small group work. The magnetic letters and boards have made word-building hands-on and engaging—students love challenging each other to create new words and sentences. The new books have sparked wonderful conversations during reading groups, with students eagerly recommending stories to their friends and discovering new authors together.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with pure enthusiasm. They couldn't wait to explore everything, and it was heartwarming to watch them dive right in with such excitement.
