My Project

I am so honored to teach 4th and 5th grade string/orchestra students in four Richmond, Virginia elementary schools. All of my schools are "Title I" schools. My students demonstrate every single day that they are capable of greatness when they have equitable access to necessary resources and supports. Music is our birthright, and every child deserves the chance to explore the potential within themselves.

Happily, I have a bumper crop of violin players this school year, but, we don't have enough BOWS.

Bows wear out, they break, and in rare instances, they get lost. We will always need more bows than instruments. Bows are essential equipment for string players. I never want my students to go without, so I have been carting bows back and forth to schools.

In order to excel, our students need basic equipment to set themselves up for success. Studying music changes academic outcomes for students and provides solace in difficult times. The best time to introduce students to music is NOW. Thank you for your help! You are truly touching the future!
