Mentor Texts!

Help me give my students engaging mentor texts to help us with writing!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my classroom we use a Writer's Workshop model, which has shown to be very effective with my English Language Learners! One important aspect of writer's workshop is the use of mentor texts throughout each writing unit.

By using mentor texts, I hope to model what good writers and readers do.

I will use these books to model various literary skills such as main idea, theme, and point of view, some of which can be challenging for students to grasp. My students will have the opportunity to refer back to these texts throughout each unit.
