Help me give my students the OSMO learning system for our classroom stations, as well as the bases to hold the iPads so that I can support learning and language development.
I am a teacher at a local elementary school in Virginia. My students are from all over the world and speak so many different languages. Many of them only speak English at school and their native tongue at home. They are hard working children who love to come to school. They aim to please and show their skills in so many ways. Speaking English is hard. I love that they can speak both languages and I want to be able to provide them more opportunities to develop their English language skills. At the same time, I want to continue to grow the communication skills of the others so that they grow as learners and speakers
My students need the OSMO learning system to support their language and communication skills.
Learning the English language is hard and is very different from all other languages. This OSMO learning system will foster the language development skills of new speakers, but also broaden the communication skills of all of the students. Not only can this be used as a partner system, but it can be used as an individual system where learning can become more targeted to each student’s specific learning needs.
My Project
The OSMO learning system is going to support many areas of learning. Each system comes with a variety of games that can be played with a partner or in an individual way. Some students are working on letter sounds within words and will be able to build their knowledge of letter sound relationships with this particular game. Other students are working on communicating with peers in a calm way and this learning system will support them as well.
Our school highlights Portrait of a Graduate (POG) standards, which include being an effective communicator.
This system will help all children learn how to be effective communicators through while learning with peers. It will also support the critical and creative thinkers, which is another POG standard.
The OSMO system does not limit any individual from tapping into their learning. Instead it compliments each student in whatever journey of learning they are on, while supporting them in skills they will use throughout their school journey but also later in life.
