My Students

My students are diverse learners with a large number of these students in our general education classes having Individualized Education Plans. We strive to include all students in all levels of classes. My students span all levels of learning, all levels of reading and writing abilities, as well as many different learning styles.

As a school, we strive to keep my classroom and environment a place of acceptance and an extended family, as well as inclusion in all aspects of education.

These students have many needs that are crucial to being successful adults. These students can accomplish so much with great teachers and great resources.

My Project

This past semester I completed teaching with film course through the Utah Film Center, and have been eager to apply it with my students. I have done some in the past but now that I know what I am doing I realize that to have multiple groups creating content, I need more film equipment.

If a student can create something tangible in their hands they will be more likely to remember and love where it came from.

I strive to build lifelong learning in my history classroom and a way that students relate more and more these days is by creating "Meaningful" media content. In this endeavor, students will be making short videos about events in the American Civil War and other events in history. They may also choose to interview other experts about the events. Once I have the materials the use will be exponential as students create meaningful media that they will be able to share with their friends & family for years to come. For the past year or so students have been isolated from each other unable to speak or even share experiences this will help to open up after the years of Covid-19.

I have also become the advisor of the first Film club at my school.
