My students are everything to me. They are like my children. They come from a community where many families are struggling to keep their families fed and take care of their basic needs. The students come to school looking for a second home where they feel loved and cared for throughout the day. I feel it is my job to not only show them that learning is fun but that they are in a safe, loving environment. Our classroom works together like a family to support each other.
My Project
These wonderful materials will enable my young students to see the value of math in their daily lives. They will learn the basic foundations of math in a fun interactive way that will allow them to work independently at stations by using the math activity bins. The materials will teach them skills such as shapes, patterns and addition and subtraction. The magna-tiles will let them explore and build the things that they dream about with their imaginations. When these skills are mastered at a young age, it is proven that it sets students up for success in math. Our classroom will become a place where young students thrive from hands-on learning. Math is the foundation for our daily lives. We love math!
