Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a wonderful class of 26 first graders! My students come from a variety of backgrounds. We have many English Language Learners in our classroom and many students receive free or reduced lunch due to low socio-economic status.

My class if full of creative and artistic children who just LOVE all things school!

They are a bright group of children who are full of potential and just need extra practice to master the skills necessary for first grade.

My Project

Manipulatives are extremely influential and helpful to a student's understanding of math. These resources will be made available to help students retain the key concepts being taught. When students receive the opportunity to explore math through the use of manipulatives or other hands on resources, all of the light bulbs begin to turn on and meaningful connections are developed. Students will be able to manipulate the number lines to create a more tactile experience, thus helping them better understand the concepts. Students will learn and experience how to manipulate pattern blocks to create images and figures, which aligns with our STEM goals for the classroom. Through the use of hands on manipulatives, my students will get the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of math and mathematical concepts.

Donations to my project will excite 26 adorable first graders who are working very hard every day to learn .
