Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are pushing past the barriers that are given to them daily. They are often waking themselves up, getting ready, and walking alone to school. Many of them are presented with the responsibility of being in charge of their learning at a very young age. Despite these challenges they come through my door with a smile and sense of relief to be in a safe place.
No matter what yesterday consisted of, these kids come with an open mind and heart.
They are ready to be filled with as much information as we can give them. My students crave to know more and be more. In a time where education is at its lowest my students are ready to be the change that Oklahoma needs.
My Project
The best thing a teacher can provide for a student is differentiated instruction. In my classroom I do this by providing every single student with small group instruction. I see every student every day. This method gives me the ability to work with all my learners on their level.
The fraction center materials and geometry kits will support my students in small groups by providing the visual aid that my English language learners need.
It gives them the opportunity to fully explore a concept instead of just seeing a formula on a piece of paper. Third grade standards have students mastering foundational math skills that they will rely on to be successful in life.
The math folder games that are requested help practice skills in an engaging way. It provides them with something they can do independently for repeated practice while I am working with other students in small group. Students are able to also choose something the feel like they are good at and gives them an opportunity to be successful.
