I had lunch with a student last week that told me she goes home and at night shares a room with her two sisters, her mother, and her father. They have a regular bed and a bunk bed that the family shares while her other sister sleeps on the floor every night. The students that walk through my doors are precious people that have to deal with more in their childhoods than someone should have to overcome in their lifetime. The students have created a motto for themselves and our classroom and that is "Make your mark on the world."
