This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is the hub of our urban community in the Bronx, NY. Our staff welcomes students and families into our building and provides a safe, nurturing, and motivating environment. With dedicated teachers and a rigorous curriculum, we help students become successful life-long learners ready to make their mark on the world. We strive to help students find and pursue their talents and passions. We value the arts, athletics, and team-building.

Our students face many challenges in their lives; our school thrives to make our school a welcoming, warm, motivating, and enriching place.

Over 95% percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch, roughly one-fourth of the student population has special needs, and many students come from homes where English is a second language.

My Project

Number Sense is not innate for all! Having a toolbox of mathematical strategies can enhance number sense skills! Students need supports and materials to improve their multiplication and division skills!

Multiplication and division are mathematical operations that can be tricky for kids!

With the aid of manipulatives and charts, students can learn to construct and build meaning and relationships amongst multiplication and division.

Learning how to use these mathematical tools will benefit mathematicians who might be struggling with these concepts. Learning how to read a multiplication chart and a division chart will support students as they make meaning of groups and split quantities.
