If you were to walk into my classroom, you would see determined students who work hard day in and out. Not only do they work hard, they are creative thinkers who give their all even when the going gets tough. I try my very best to make their learning environment as hands on and engaging as possible.
My district is a K-6 district that serves many different aspects of students.
Some come from diverse backgrounds or home lives, so it's important to make their learning environment as engaging as possible. If I continue to work to create positive thinking toward learning, then I know I will pass the love of learning on to my students.
My Project
Third grade math can be difficult for students. The introduction of multiplication and division along with other math concepts can leave struggling learners lost in understanding those concepts.
With teaching third grade for so long, I have learned the more hands on I can get, the easier it is for those students to learn.
Using the place value magnetic blocks and the fraction magnetic pieces, I can model how to use their hands on manipulatives. Also, using the double dice, I can provide the students with another hands on way to practice their multiplication, addition, and subtraction facts. These are just some of the endless ways I can use these math manipulatives to help my students get a better understanding of the lessons we are learning!
