Help me give my students the love of math by providing all the essentials and extras they may need. I would like to purchase everything from games they can play to shapes they can see and touch.
I teach in a rural K-8 school in California. My students come from all different types of backgrounds, and their unique situations give them some real strengths and challenges as students. I teach students who love to learn, love to socialize, and are just in school because they have to be. I want to reach all my students, especially those that are only in my classroom because they have to be.
They are a such a fun group of kids, most of them have known each other since Kindergarten so they feel more like family than friends.
At graduation this past year the valedictorian talked about how she would leave home in the morning only to be going to another type of home, school.
As their surrogate mother during the school day, I want to give my students the best possible education. This includes providing materials and snacks for those who cannot afford it. They are such deserving kids, as all truly are, and I love them all with all my heart.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my student's learning by providing them with hands-on manipulatives to help them grasp some of the more difficult math concepts. For learning integers, I have chosen a game for 3-D shapes, manipulatives, and worksheets.
All the extras a student might need are hard to come by.
With your help, I can bring more materials into the classroom and really make math come alive!
