Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This coming school I will be teaching Pre-K! For most of the students it will be their first time in a school setting. It will be a shock to them. They will be surrounded my new faces and new a setting. With that being said, many come from an environment with little exposure to literature. My students will be attending a Title I school and majority of the students are Hispanic. Two-thirds of the students are coming from low income households. Nevertheless the students are eager to learn and full of curiosity.

I want to implement a learning environment where my students feel safe, comfortable, but also a place the can call their own.

I wanted to establish an adequate library with centers that match the students interests and learning style. At the end of Pre-K I hope the students will have an interest in learning but prepared for kindergarten.

My Project

The purpose of the project is to upgrade my current math centers and extend the centers for my higher math students. The centers range from number Play-Doh maths, number locks, a 100 puzzle train, a few other math manipulatives such as addition.

These centers will compliment what we are doing in the classroom from counting, adding, and sorting.

The centers are also hands on and will allow the students to work individually or in groups. Also, the new centers are engaging and fun. The students will have a great time with the math centers.
