Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are motivated and eager to learn. After not being in a classroom for more than a year, my students are so excited to be in school. They enjoy being read to, and after they have heard books read to them, they enjoy reading them on their own. They have a wonderful knack for connecting personal experiences with the literature they have read. They are learning a second language and developing their vocabulary every day. My end in mind is to develop a love of reading that will take my students on great adventures throughout their lives.

I teach 24 first grade, second language learners who are living in a low-income community in Los Angeles.

Our school is a Title I-funded school with students from preschool to fifth grade. At our school, we strive to instill the idea in our students that they are thinkers, leaders, and change makers. We are the first Leader in Me school in our area, and we are very proud to be developing our future leaders, thinkers, and change makers!

My Project

Air and weather is our upcoming until in science. My students are so engaged in their learning, I would like to provide as much motivation as possible to keep the learning going.

I am asking for double sided cardstock, mini drill and different sized hole punches for a pinwheel they will use for a long time.

They will investigate wind and temperature. They will write about their experience.

In addition, I am asking for centimeter linking cubes, a digital clock, and analog clock for math and learning about measurement. The letter beads will be used to practice spelling out sight words. By helping us with this project you will be enhancing our science, math and literacy units.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
