Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my first-year of teaching and I honestly could not have asked for a better group of kids to grow alongside. Most of my students families are from rural pueblos in Yucatán, Mexico, which also happens to be where my own family is from. This is the first time in my life that I feel such a strong cultural connection with students and families. My students and their families have cried with me, laughed with me and completely redefined love for me. I cannot thank them enough for giving me a sense of home so quickly in the school year.

I teach at a Title 1 school as a bilingual 2nd grade teacher, so all of my students are from low-income backgrounds and are just starting to learn English.

They remind me of myself in so many ways as I was also an English language learner in school. My students have so much brilliance and creativity to share with the world. Unfortunately, they do not have access to resources that allow them to do this. Please consider helping my students access what they deserve.

My Project

As a first-year teacher serving kinesthetic learners, I am asking for your help in maintaining a materials-rich classroom. As I transition my students into reading and writing in English, I will be making a lot of individually-tailored resources that require access to laminating pouches, binder pockets, clear sheets, etc.

During this language transition, my goal is to provide my students with systematic and explicit literary instruction, which requires constant tracking of student data.

I find that hanging file folders are best for this.

The Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) gift card will grant me access to amazing teacher-created resources around literacy.

I am also passionate about providing students with a thoughtfully organized classroom, and your donation can help me make this a reality.
