Our classroom serves multiple classes and students. Each class and student deserve to be fully supported within the classroom environment. With the input of our Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Physical therapist, we are re-evaluating our classroom furniture, equipment and materials.
Allowing our classroom to be a fluid space, better equips us to meet students' needs.
Although I've listed a wide range of materials, everything is carefully selected and needed for our classroom.
-Books: I am hoping to provide more books to target core words instruction and for read alouds.
-Toys: We are lucky to have many well-loved toys for students to use. Unfortunately, many of our favorite toys have broken pieces or missing parts. I've listed some of our favorite toys that students use during dramatic play and that need to be replaced. I've also included batteries for our toys.
-Adaptive equipment: including easy grip handles and a peanut ball to target core strength. Also, we are requesting single output voice communication devices which we use daily.
-Classroom Rug: Our current classroom rug has a variety of numbers and letters that can be very distracting to students during circle time. I'm hoping to replace our rug, with a plain rug to be used during read aloud, center time and many more activities.
-Various Classroom Materials: A set of 2D and 3D noun flash cards, to streamline our matching materials with more functional items. A walking rope, which is needed especially for our younger students as we practice walking to the playground in a single line.
I have seen how a classroom designed based on students' current needs positively affects students' progress. I hope that these additional options will help us grow even more!
