The numerous hands-on activities from this project have added so much excitement to the learning in our classroom!\r\n\r\nMy students were absolutely thrilled when I showed them all of the new puzzles, magnetic mazes, and Picasso blocks for our classroom. I have incorporated these new resources into learning time and as well as having them available as free choice activities. My kindergarteners have loved having things to do that do not require them to sit at a desk.\r\n\r\nThe big building blocks were unavailable, so I chose to get pretend food for our kitchen area as a substitute item. The play food my students had been using was very old and really needed replacing. Everyone was really excited to get their hands on the new pretend food, and they've had a blast using it during Free Choice time.\r\n\r\nOver the years, more and more time in our kindergarten day has been filled with worksheets and paper/pencil activities. Students now have far less time to explore, create, and play on their own in kindergarten. All of these materials will help students with social skills, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning in a way that pencil/paper activities cannot. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity! For some students, they like the competitive aspect of reading the sight words and trying to pop as many circles as possible in order to win. Others just like being able to pop the circles after reading the word correctly. \r\n The Place Value Manipulative Board has been really helpful for students who struggle to visualize how numbers are made up of 1's, 10's and 100's.
