My Students

I am an inner-city intervention specialist in Cleveland. My middle schoolers are taught in an inclusion setting, meaning they have 2 teachers (one intervention specialist and one regular education teacher) with them in each class to meet their individual needs. They love technology (as most students do!) and are really enthusiastic when given the opportunity to expand their knowledge and integrate technology into their lessons. Computers allow individualized lessons and accommodations for each student, whether in special or regular education and help them to grow and thrive in the classroom.

My Project

Our inner city students are extremely lucky to have a school assigned laptop to use in the classroom. It's new technology that everyone is really excited to use! However, what they don't have are earbuds. Some are able to bring their personal earbuds from home but many just can't afford the extra expense. Personal earbuds at school would allow students to have passages read to them, have the use of tutorials online, and so much more! It's disappointing when we can't fully use the technology provided to us- this would absolutely benefit our students and the impact technology would have in the classroom!
