Help me give my students computer software that will allow us to project our Algebra 2 lesson while simultaneously using the TI-84 Plus graphing calculator, as well as a rug and lamp for a cozy reading area.
I am a dedicated high school resource room teacher in my hometown. The students that I work with are funny and energetic ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders. I am so lucky that when I work with students as a math liaison, I am often working with them, one on one, or in small groups. This provides me with the time to form strong relationships with them.
I get great joy being able to have items available for my students, that make learning fun for them; that let them know they are cared for deeply; and that allow them to be at their best and ready to learn.
I also feel strongly that I need to help provide materials for project-based learning opportunities that they can use to express their learning in non-traditional ways.
My Project
This project is for making both math and reading even more enjoyable for students. The Software for the TI-84 Plus graphing family is an easy-to-use, effective demonstration tool for teaching math to an entire classroom. We will be able to project our lesson while simultaneously using the TI-84 Plus graphing calculator, which will make it more engaging for students as well as facilitate activities.
This software will allow us to Project an expanded calculator screen in Algebra 2, which will help our students see important details.
To make reading count, I have asked for a rug and a lamp so that there is a comfortable reading area for our English classes. This will encourage reading by making a space for just that purpose.
