Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a school counselor, one of my primary goals is to create a positive school climate where every student and staff member feels valued, connected, and appreciated. Research shows that when individuals feel recognized and included, they are more likely to develop positive relationships, engage in learning, and contribute to a supportive school environment.

Our Birthday Appreciation Project will provide supplies and materials needed to celebrate students on their birthdays throughout the school year such as, birthday cups, hair clips, small treats, and recognition items that help make each person feel special on their day.

Many of our students face challenges outside of school, and some may not have the opportunity to celebrate their birthdays at home. By recognizing birthdays at school, we can ensure that every child feels seen, valued, and celebrated. A simple acknowledgment can boost self-esteem, strengthen a student's sense of belonging, and create positive memories associated with school.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
