My students need magnetic write and wipe boards and storage bins.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My kindergarten classroom is made up of diverse 5 and 6 year olds in a Southern Arizona Title 1 school with diverse literacy experiences. A few had limited exposure to literacy concepts in preschool. Most have not attended preschool or daycare, therefore have little exposure to materials to help them learn basic language and writing skills.
99% of my school is on free and reduced lunch.
The majority live in neighborhood apartments and trailer parks. For most of my students, Kindergarten is their first real school experience. Their parents don't have the funds to provide them with educational materials and most do not know what kinds of literacy experiences to give their children. Many come to school without literacy basics such as letter recognition, letter sound knowledge, and handwriting skills, all foundations of strong literacy skills, essential in school and the real world. However, they strive to do their best against their odds. The students love to write every day. These resources are things that my students will not have access to outside of our classroom.
I am requesting magnetic write on white boards and storage bins to allow my students to improve their writing skills during writing time and literacy centers. They will use them during whole group interactive writing, and when they work with a partner. They will help my students practice their literacy skills including alphabet and sight word writing, along with developing sentences.
The storage bins will allow our supplies to be organized in the classroom.
By donating to our classroom, the students will be able to improve their writing skills, and become better writers. These materials will allow the students to enjoy writing.
