Make DREAMS Come True (Digital Readiness Engineering, Math, and Science)
Help me give my students laptop computers to be able to collaborate online with other students, allow for a deeper understanding of topics through research, and personalize instruction for individual students based on their needs.
Einstein said, "Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think." My students are curious, enthusiastic, and creative. My students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge. The students in my class are gifted students in grades 1st through 5th that come from all backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. The method and the environment in which they learn best can vary greatly and I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met.
The gifted child gives evidence of high performance capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership capacity, or specific academic fields, and who require services or activities that go beyond a regular classroom environment in order to fully develop such capabilities.
My Project
My students will use these Chromebooks to connect and collaborate with students from all over to research their Genius Hour Projects. Genius Hours is a student-driven research project that is done at school. The goal of Genius Hour is to engage students through inquiry problem solving and critical thinking. Genius Hour promotes, supports and models creative, innovative thinking and inventiveness. It allows students an opportunity to discover and investigate a passion and share their learning with others.
The Chromebooks will allow students the flexibility of researching, presenting, and developing skill sets that are valuable in any learning situation.
The computers will be used by the students to research and collaborate with other students from all over to problem solve, create solutions, and think critically.
