Magnetic Tiles, More Than a Toy

Help me give my students the opportunity to develop basic math, reading, and writing skills through the use of these STEM magnetic blocks.

My Project

These magnetic tiles may seem like just toys, however they can act as far more than that! Within the classroom these can be used to cover math, reading, science, written expression and more.

These Magnetic tiles act as the most universal STEM manipulative within any classroom.

As these magnets are made of slick material, they can be written on with an Expo marker, making them the perfect asset. In receiving these tiles, I look to utilize them in math by helping students build math problems in order to better understand number sense. In reading, they can be utilized by building words to improve word recognition and even reading fluency. They can also be used to build simple sentences to improve written expression concepts. But most importantly these STEM manipulatives help students learn how to improve engineering and technology skills just by building!

As a special education teacher, it is essential to find ways in which students learn best. Often times the simple addition of manipulatives helps students better access knowledge. With that, my students will benefit in multiple ways with the addition of these within their classroom. Ultimately, there are so many uses for these simple STEM tiles, all of which are beneficial to student learning.
