Magnetic Poetry Magic

Help me give my students magnetic poetry strips and paper for my students to write "I Am" poems with the magic of magnets.

My Project

My students walk into our school library with excitement in their eyes. They can't wait to be able to let their imagination go wild in the library makerspace. You can see students taking apart and putting together computers, designing 3-D models, constructing structures, learning about circuitry, or playing board games. You will also see students curled up in the corner reading a book or asking me for a new book for them to read. It always puts a smile on my face when they come back to me, after reading a book, to tell me how much they loved a book.

This project will provide my students with magnetic boards, poetry strips, and magnetic paper that they will use to create magnetic "I Am" poems.

This will be how I will introduce my students to the poetry unit that they will be starting the next day in class. I will print out pictures and glue them to the magnetic paper to accommodate for my students who are struggling readers. I can't wait to see all of the ways they describe themselves through the magic of magnetic poetry!
