Love of Reading

My Students

Do you remember getting hooked on a series of books as a child? Think of the anticipation and excitement you felt waiting for and then finally reading the latest book in the series. My students share that excitement and joy of reading. They enjoy reading together and have devoured the stories we have read so far this year. My students are inquisitive, voracious readers who are craving to discover new adventures.

My students are book-loving, avid readers, and enthusiastic learners.

They are often found engaged in books once their other work is complete. Due to COVID-19 my students are not able to visit our school library. I would like to support and encourage their love of reading by purchasing class sets of books for us to read together.

My Project

The most important way you can support fifth grade reading is to make sure students have plenty of time and encouragement to read for pleasure. Falling in love with reading is the key to unlocking many magic doors in life. I still remember reading Holes and the Hatchet in elementary school and not wanting to put the book down.

I will use these stories to help my students develop a life-long love of reading.

I will also use these books to increase fluency and comprehension.

These stories will give us the opportunity to participate in book studies whether we are learning virtual or face to face.
